* bin: Add msmtp to the required packages listMiquel Sabaté Solà2025-10-131-1/+1
| | | | Signed-off-by: Miquel Sabaté Solà <mssola@mssola.com>
* kbuild: Be more specific on Linux kernel root pathMiquel Sabaté Solà2025-10-071-1/+1
| | | | Signed-off-by: Miquel Sabaté Solà <mssola@mssola.com>
* kbuild: Be more explicit on --skip-* flagsMiquel Sabaté Solà2025-10-071-6/+6
| | | | | | | | | I always end up forgetting which is which, and I have to turn into '-h/--help'. Hence, instead of providing a "clever" short version of each flag, let's scrap that and use a more explicit name for each --skip-* flag. Signed-off-by: Miquel Sabaté Solà <mssola@mssola.com>
* kbuild: Adapt the uninstall.sh script to profilesMiquel Sabaté Solà2025-10-071-11/+22
| | | | | | | | | Moreover, some subtle fixes have been added, like using 'update-bootloader' instead of 'update-grub' in SUSE-like systems, and having -f in 'rm' commands so uninstall.sh can be run safely multiple times without erroring out. Signed-off-by: Miquel Sabaté Solà <mssola@mssola.com>
* kbuild: Don't check on the profile before helpMiquel Sabaté Solà2025-10-071-14/+14
| | | | | | | | If the user asked for '-h/--help', the profile is irrelevant. Hence, the right order is: first check if '-h/--help' was provided, then the profile. Signed-off-by: Miquel Sabaté Solà <mssola@mssola.com>
* Enable systemd timers on doctor.rbMiquel Sabaté Solà2025-10-031-0/+5
| | | | Signed-off-by: Miquel Sabaté Solà <mssola@mssola.com>
* run-riscv-qemu.sh: Add '-k/--kernel' and '-d/--disk' parametersMiquel Sabaté Solà2025-10-031-47/+83
| | | | | | | | This allows this script to be more specific on the kernel being used, less hiden (as it was on an environment variable), and it easies up the route for a disk already containing a Linux system. Signed-off-by: Miquel Sabaté Solà <mssola@mssola.com>
* bin: Add 'profile' into kbuildMiquel Sabaté Solà2025-10-031-68/+103
| | | | | | | This allows this script to be more specific for the resulting 'install.sh', as the current situation wasn't quite working. Signed-off-by: Miquel Sabaté Solà <mssola@mssola.com>
* run-riscv-qemu: Allocate at least 8G for memoryMiquel Sabaté Solà2025-09-241-0/+1
| | | | | | | I don't know what were the defaults for this, but it was certainly not enough in order to run some of the selftests from the Linux kernel. Signed-off-by: Miquel Sabaté Solà <mssola@mssola.com>
* bin: Guess the QEMU_KERNEL to be used based on cwdMiquel Sabaté Solà2025-09-231-4/+17
| | | | Signed-off-by: Miquel Sabaté Solà <mssola@mssola.com>
* bin: Add 'do-backup.sh'Miquel Sabaté Solà2025-09-172-0/+68
| | | | Signed-off-by: Miquel Sabaté Solà <mssola@mssola.com>
* doctor.rb: Add more required binariesMiquel Sabaté Solà2025-09-171-1/+1
| | | | Signed-off-by: Miquel Sabaté Solà <mssola@mssola.com>
* bin: Update 'kbuild' to also handle UbuntuMiquel Sabaté Solà2025-09-161-6/+55
| | | | | | | Relevant for my Framework RISC-V laptop, even if I need to get my hands dirty a bit more with it. Signed-off-by: Miquel Sabaté Solà <mssola@mssola.com>
* bin: Add 'fetch-email'Miquel Sabaté Solà2025-09-161-0/+27
| | | | | | | | This is a glorified bash one-liner for fetching my email by syncing each channel via GNU parallel. This speeds up a bit from the usual 'mbsync -a', even if it's not a miracle. Signed-off-by: Miquel Sabaté Solà <mssola@mssola.com>
* bin/doctor: Accept a VERBOSE environment variableMiquel Sabaté Solà2025-09-011-0/+4
| | | | Signed-off-by: Miquel Sabaté Solà <mikisabate@gmail.com>
* bin/doctor: Allow ARM64 as wellMiquel Sabaté Solà2025-09-011-1/+2
| | | | Signed-off-by: Miquel Sabaté Solà <mikisabate@gmail.com>
* bin: Introduce the doctor.rb install/update scriptMiquel Sabaté Solà2025-07-141-0/+192
| | | | | | | | | This replaces the good ol' install.sh script, and it allows me to not only install on a new system, but also upgrade dependencies, repair broken links, etc. This is certainly not Nix, but at least it's not as bad as it used to be. Signed-off-by: Miquel Sabaté Solà <mikisabate@gmail.com>
* bin: Add zypper-rdup helper scriptMiquel Sabaté Solà2025-07-081-0/+20

* Streamline configuration for run-riscv-qemu.shMiquel Sabaté Solà2025-05-071-9/+15
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Personal stuff like the location of the kernel image should go into my .bashrc file, and then require it on `run-riscv-qemu.sh`. Similarly, some environment variables were dropped, and some others removed. This brings some much needed consistency to the whole script. Last but not least, the `run-riscv-qemu.sh` now also had an extra configurable variable, which is used for the `-cpu` QEMU option. It defaults to 'max' so we can test the maximum amount of supported extensions as possible. Signed-off-by: Miquel Sabaté Solà <mikisabate@gmail.com>
* bin: Force a busybox path when running QEMUMiquel Sabaté Solà2025-04-221-5/+23
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | When running QEMU/RISC-V, force the user to provide the `BUSYBOX_SRC` environment variable. This variable points to the path where busybox has been built. This way the path to the initramfs is not hardcoded. Moreover, this allows us to rebuilt the initramfs every time the `run-riscv-qemu.sh` is called, which in turn brings some consistency to the process. Plus, this opens the door for allowing files to be passed into a new `/home` directory for the current user. This way, someone can just statically compile a binary via cross compilation, and then run it in isolation with QEMU/RISC-V. Last but not least, also update the .bashrc file with a value for `BUSYBOX_SRC` on my system. Signed-off-by: Miquel Sabaté Solà <mikisabate@gmail.com>

* bin: Add helpers for gdb and qemu for RISC-VMiquel Sabaté Solà2024-10-112-0/+115
| | | | | | | | There are now two scripts that can be used in order to quickly test a locally built Linux kernel which has been cross compiled for the RISC-V architecture. Signed-off-by: Miquel Sabaté Solà <mikisabate@gmail.com>
* e: Fix vi call and introduce nanoMiquel Sabaté Solà2024-09-191-3/+6
| | | | | | | | | The vi branch was calling vim anyways, which is not what we want in restricted environments. Moreover, I have also added nano. It would be extremely rare for GNU nano to be there and not vi, but let's exhaust any possibility before bailing out. Signed-off-by: Miquel Sabaté Solà <mikisabate@gmail.com>
* kbuild: Remove the initrd image on uninstall.shMiquel Sabaté Solà2024-09-131-1/+2
| | | | | | | | The initrd image is created and installed dynamically via install.sh. Hence, this is not picked up by the files.txt list and so we need to remove it manually. Signed-off-by: Miquel Sabaté Solà <mikisabate@gmail.com>

* kbuild: add --no-installMiquel Sabaté Solà2024-08-201-33/+43
| | | | | | | This way the heavy process of creating a tarball can be skipped on silly builds. Signed-off-by: Miquel Sabaté Solà <mikisabate@gmail.com>
* kbuild: add the `-s/--skip-build` optionMiquel Sabaté Solà2024-08-191-33/+60
| | | | | | | This allows me to skip the defconfig/menuconfig over and over again when writing a patch. Signed-off-by: Miquel Sabaté Solà <mikisabate@gmail.com>
* kbuild: append lines for extboot by defaultMiquel Sabaté Solà2024-08-131-2/+38
| | | | | | | | | Usually the configuration for extboot is just the same. For that, before starting the editor for it, append the configuration that I'd most likely be using. Then the editor session might just be deleting the old lines and removing the warning comment. Signed-off-by: Miquel Sabaté Solà <mikisabate@gmail.com>

* Set ARCH and CROSS_COMPILE at the bash levelMiquel Sabaté Solà2024-07-241-41/+0
| | | | | | | Funnily enough, running something like `. cross` makes bash unstable. Hence, let's go back to mere .bashrc exporting. Signed-off-by: Miquel Sabaté Solà <mikisabate@gmail.com>

* Cleaning some things upMiquel Sabaté Solà2022-09-051-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | I forgot to update the year on the license script itself (sorta did but never bothered to push it on git), and removed emoji support in GNU Emacs since it can be a pain when starting in daemon mode for the first time (it asks for downloading the emojis but you don't really read it when starting on this way). Signed-off-by: Miquel Sabaté Solà <msabate@suse.com>
* bin: added the git-default scriptMiquel Sabaté Solà2022-09-051-0/+45
| | | | | | | | This subcommand allows you to easily checkout the default branch. This is mainly done because nowadays there are repositories with `main` or `master` or `whatever` as their default name. Signed-off-by: Miquel Sabaté Solà <msabate@suse.com>
* bin: explicitely set the nocap optionMiquel Sabaté Solà2021-11-151-2/+2
| | | | | | | When toggling the layout, explicitely set the ctrl:nocap option so it overrides the default value for some systems. Signed-off-by: Miquel Sabaté Solà <msabate@suse.com>
